Jan Freeman Schloot was born April 1, 1930 in Worthington, Indiana, the son of Donald Freeman Schloot and Abby (Dyer) Schloot Defrees.

Mr. Schloot attended Rollins College and became an entrepreneur. While living in Worthington, he served as a member of the Worthington Town Council and as the County Chairman of the Greene County Young Republicans. In 1959, he settled with his family in Central Florida. He was a member of BPOE and Delta Chi Fraternity.

The family of Jan Schloot includes two sons, Kevin Schloot of Altamonte Springs and Michael Schloot of Maitland, Florida; three daughters, Terri Rupp of New Smyrna Beach, Beth Hook of Lake Mary and Abby Brown of Maitland, Florida; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and his sister and brother-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Ed (Susan) Benjamin of Worthington, Indiana.

Family members who have passed on include his parents; one son, James Craig Schloot; and one brother, James Dyer Schloot.

Mr. Schloot, of Altamonte Springs, Florida, passed away at the age of 76 on Monday, March 19, 2007 in Florida. A graveside service was held on Friday, May 4, 2007 when he was laid to rest in Worthington Cemetery. Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington assisted with the arrangements.
