Chambers, James Luther
James Luther Chambers of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2007 in Greene County after an accident near Worthington, Indiana. He was 77 years old, born May 9, 1929 in Bloomington, the son of Luther Chambers and Ethie Robertson Chambers.
Mr. Chambers retired in 1988 from work as a painter with the Indiana University Halls of Residence. He attended the Howe Street Pentecostal Church.
His family included: his wife, Iva (Willoughby) Chambers; two sons, James D. Chambers and wife, Rita, of Bloomington, and Kenneth Chambers and wife, Deborah, of Bedford; two daughters, Elaine Siniard and husband, Marcus, and Cathy Jamison, all of Bloomington; one brother, Earl Chambers of Owensburg; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Sarah Chambers; and three brothers, Lawrence Chambers, Virgil Chambers and Robert Chambers.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 19 at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel, with Brother Don English officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, January 18 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. The place of burial will be Valhalla Memory Gardens.
