Stewart, Mabel M.

Mable M. Stewart of Bloomfield passed away Tuesday May 29, 2007 at Bloomington Hospital. She was 80 years old, born May 21, 1927 in Monroe County, the daughter of Frank and Agnes (Hadden) Hayse.

MabelStewart.jpgShe was retired as the cook for the Lighthouse Restaurant in Bloomfield and was a member of the Harvest Community Church.

Survivors include her children, Martha J. and husband John Shelton of Columbus, E. Edward Smith of Lyons, Nancy J. and husband John Deckard of Bedford, Janice S. and husband Mike Hardesty of Bloomfield, and Dona S. Stewart and companion Denny Bissey of Bloomfield; grandchildren Greg and wife Laurie Shelton of Columbus, Phillip and wife Buffy Shelton of Columbus, Kianne Smith of Arizona, Blake Smith of Arizona, Kelly and husband Greg Dunn of Bedford, Jerry and wife Kelly Maddox of Bloomfield, Katrina and husband Charles Michael of Bloomfield, Kristie and husband Jeff Pickard of Worthington, and Cody Bissey of Bloomfield; great-grandchildren, Sylvia, Alyssa, Parker, Presten and Peyton Shelton of Columbus, Garrison Dunn of Bedford, Emily and Kaylee Pickard of Worthington, and Aaron Michael of Bloomfield; one brother, Alva and wife Vickie Hayse of Bloomfield; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John W. (Sam) Stewart on May 30, 1996; siblings, Clayton Cleo in 1966, Grace Elizabeth in 1980, Lester Franklin in 1988, Dorothy May in 1990, James Theodore in 2005, Melvin Lee in 1961, Raymond Gilbert in 1934, and William Albert in 2003.

A funeral service was scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday June 1 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Arlen Pope and Rev. Jeff Williams officiating. The place of burial will be Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of services Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greene County Humane Society.

Knoy, Maxine E.

MaxineKnoy.jpgMaxine E. Knoy of Worthington passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was 79 years old, born in Shelbyville, Indiana on June 23, 1927, the daughter of Marshall Sr. and Alice (Marley) King.

She was a homemaker, previously owned a beauty shop in Worthington, and worked at Billie's Style Shoppe. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Worthington.

Survivors include her son, Ellis Knoy of Worthington; two brothers, Bob King of Ocala, Florida and Raymond King of Vincennes; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie B. "Pete" Knoy on July 21, 1991; a brother, Marshall King, Jr.; a sister, Phyllis Epperson; and her parents.

A memorial service was scheduled for Thursday, May 31 at 6:00 p.m. at the Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Worthington Chapel with visitation on Thursday from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service.

A private burial will be held in the Worthington Cemetery at a later date.

Class, Geneva Pearl

Geneva Pearl Class of Bloomfield passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007 at her residence. She was 57 years old, born January 1, 1950 in Greene County, Indiana, the daughter of Raymond and Ola (Reed) Fulk.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness Church in Bloomfield. She was a 1967 graduate of Bloomfield High School.

Survivors include her husband, Walter Class of Bloomfield; two sons, Mike Class of St. Cloud, Florida and Robert Class of Bloomfield; one brother, Jim Fulk of Bloomfield; one sister, Joyce Koontz of Worthington; and her mother, Ola (Reed) Fulk of Bloomfield.

She was preceded in death by her father.

A memorial service was scheduled for Wednesday May 30 at 5:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Bloomfield with Robert Lynch officiating. The place of burial will be at Calvertville Cemetery. Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield assisted with arrangements.

Mooney, Betty F.

Betty F. Mooney of Worthington passed away Sunday, May 13, 2007 at Glenburn Home in Linton. She was 79 years old, born in Greene County on May 29, 1927, the daughter of Orman and Bonnie (Bruce) Bough.

Betty was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post #479 in Lyons.

Survivors include her son, Joe R. Mooney of Etna Green, Indiana; one grandson, Christopher Mooney of Warsaw, Indiana; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Cletus Bough of Lyons and Ona Bough of Dundee, Florida; and two sisters, Mary Henderson and Katherine Hensley, both of Worthington.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James J. Mooney.

A graveside service was held Thursday, May 17 at the Dugger Cemetery with Pastor Randy Raney officiating. Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton provided assistance with the arrangements.

Gentry, Mabel

Mabel Gentry of Freedom, Indiana passed away Friday, May 11, 2007. She was 92 years old, born May 2, 1915 in Greene County, the daughter of David and Lucy (Bowers) Rowe.

She was a teacher at the Cuba school in Owen County, Mcville school in Greene County, and Eminence Elementary where she taught for nineteen years.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Mize and Betty (Jack) Hauser of Freedom and Beverly Knight of Richmond, Virginia; one son, Leroy (Linda) Gentry of Freedom; one sister, Grace Daugherty of Lead Hill, AR; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Owen Gentry; sister, Mary Rowe; and brothers, Dwight Rowe and Doris Alfred Rowe.

A funeral service was conducted Wednesday, May 16 with Revs. David Freeman and Ron Strohe officiating at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. The place of burial was Chambersville Cemetery.
