Visitors to the Town Hall in Worthington over the holidays have been greeted by a beautiful Christmas tree, compliments of Gloria Klass.   She did a fine job of trimming the tree so a picture had to be taken.  Now that the holidays are officially over, the tree will probably be coming down today.  Since she's starting a new four-year term, it'll be back next year.

The Worthington Town Council held a special meeting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 1, to conduct a Swearing-In Ceremony for Town Clerk-Treasurer Gloria Klass and Council members J. W. Johnson, Gregg Roudebush and Debbie Dyer. 

Vern Spoor, a former member of the Council and a notary public, administered the oaths of office after the meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer offered by Debbie Dyer.

Gloria Klass was sworn-in first to serve her third term as Clerk Treasurer.

The three Council members, J. W. Johnson, Gregg Roudebush and Debbie Dyer, recited their oaths in unison.  Johnson and Dyer are both starting their second consecutive term.  Roudebush, who is starting anew but has previously served on the Council, is taking the seat formerly occupied by Tom Smith who did not run for re-election.

All three of these Council members and Klass were unopposed in their bids seeking a town office.  Since no other candidates filed to run against them, a local election was not required to be held last November.    

There are five seats on the council with staggered four-year terms.  Hal Harp and Malcolm Stahl occupy the two remaining seats which were not up for election this year.

It all went very well!
And a New Year has begun in Worthington.
